Contributions Policy
We offer the opportunity to practice your writing and photographic skills, publicity and exposure, and the satisfaction of knowing that your contribution has added to the growing debate on the interplay of life, love and death in our society. We do not pay for contributions. Please indicate if you would like us to add a link to your website, or include specific details you would like to accompany the piece/s you send in. We will do our best to oblige.
We accept fiction, non-fiction, photographic images and art work which deals with the culture of death on our planet. If the piece has been previously published we require details to avoid copyright issues. We prefer original, intelligent work that is not unnecessarily gross. Humour is always good. We reserve the right to refuse work that is considered offensive or defamatory.
Editing Policy
We reserve the right to edit material for obvious punctuation and spelling errors but for more extensive editing will communicate with the writer or photographer before changes are made. Whenever possible we will publish as-is.
Copyright Policy
Copyright on contributed material remains vested in the writer or photographer in all cases.
All other material on the site is under copywrite to Consuelo Roland. Contact Consuelo for permission to use material.
Acknowledgements
All contributions pertaining to the work of another should include the publication source of the extract, year of publication (if available), name of creator of written or visual image and any other relevant information for a full acknowledgement of the source of the material submitted.
Contribution format
For ease of use, we suggest contributions are sent in digital format to the contact email address provided below. Postal details are available on request.
Written pieces should be sent as separate attachments. All material contributed should be disposable.
The author's name, address, email and phone number/s must appear on the first page. If you prefer to remain anonymous, please put 'anonymous' in place of name and your name in brackets. We still require your name and details for email communication.
Photographic and other images should be accompanied by clear information as to name of photographer, required website link (if any), subject matter and relevance.
We will acknowledge receipt of all contributions.
Email Contributions
All written contributions should be sent as Word Doc attachments (do not send pdf's or other formats please). Stories should be left aligned with a decent margin, 12pt Times New Roman font, single space please. Paragraphs should be marked by a single hard return (hit the Enter key once). Please use conventional "double quotation" marks for dialogue and not 'single quotes'.
All images should be attached as compressed medium-resolution jpeg files. Please do NOT send huge jpeg or other image files, and send a MAX of 3 memorable images at a time. Where there is any doubt please contact Consuelo before sending material.
All emails should have the subject line as CONTRIBUTION followed by a short explanatory description (Eg. 'short story', 'cemetery photo').
